I’m stuffing a Cessaroni 6 XGL motor (J-600) into my LDDD.
That should be a nice flight. I love that J600 motor.
I’m leaving the motor mount out, turning it into a Pro54 minimum diameter rocket 😉 The fins will just be bonded in the slots. I’ll probably stick to 4G or smaller. If time allows I’ll bring it to MHM as well.

That we will enjoy, Dr. J!
I’d love to see it fly. I’m still nervous about those shallow fin mounts, but John W. seems to thrive with them.
MHM should be doggie heaven.
Laying glass tip-to-tip is critical if you are going go minimum diameter (in my opinion). I personally like using slots, though some just tack the fins onto the outside. If you do use the slots, make sure and wrap the motor in Mylar or wax paper. I’ve done this dozens of times, including 75mm and 98mm flights…

That’s exactly what I was going to do. I’m using some high-strength epoxy and will post-cure it properly. I might drill some tiny holes through the tabs or just groove the tab lengthwise.

Does beveling the root of the fin at a 45 degree help to bond it at all – seems like the increase in surface area would help with the epoxy. I know it helped immensely with my aluminum fins to aluminum fincan.

We are Good to Go with our scheduled and approved launch on Saturday April 5th and Sunday April 6th, from the North Site, subject to change – Mostly cloudy and High Winds predicted. Range and waiver should be active by 9AM on Saturday. The Pawnee National Grassland remains fragile and dry, so extra precautions are in order. Please stay on the authorized roads and please don’t park more than 100’ off the road at the flight line.
