Hello all,
I am missing my PML 1/4 scale Patriot that I launched on Saturday. It has red fins, black body, white nosecone, and a red/white parachute. The rocket tilted slightly into the wind heading north, and I couldn’t tell if the parachute opened. Flight was around 4000 feet, so i can’t imagine it would be outside the areas that are regularly searched. If anyone finds it, please let me know.
Thanks,
Chris Dreher
Oh no – you lost it? I didn’t see you coming back with it, but I had assumed that you found it.
Just so you know, my Nike that launched around the same time as your Patriot ended up a LOT farther to the southeast than I would have expected, so you might be way out there too (despite the northerly weathercock). The upper level winds were stronger than I thought.
Landed way to the southeast too. It was dual deploy but still landed one half mile (according to my Garmin) due Southeast. There is a gentle rise out there that’s hard to see. It hides rockets behind it well. I had a tracker in mine, or it would have taken me some time to find it resting behind the rise.
A single deploy at 4000 feet could easily make it there in my opinion.
Good luck.
We are Good to Go with our scheduled and approved launch on Saturday April 5th and Sunday April 6th, from the North Site, subject to change – Mostly cloudy and High Winds predicted. Range and waiver should be active by 9AM on Saturday. The Pawnee National Grassland remains fragile and dry, so extra precautions are in order. Please stay on the authorized roads and please don’t park more than 100’ off the road at the flight line.
