OK, that proved to be a LONG walk, but I found it. I looked for your rocket Steve , but didn’t see it. I can probably tell you where it isn’t.
Hopefully you can see this pic. The red line is as far I thought it could possibly go. the red dot is where I found it!

Flapping around in the prairie for over a month sure can put wear and tear on the rocket. I was surprised to find 3 of the fiberglass fins had obviously wiggled back and forth enough from the epoxy to slip out. I must never have gotten a good bond between the glue and fiberglass. I had really roughed it up also before I glued them. Next time I might try to drill some holes through the fin so the glue can seep through I guess. I am perplexed by a huge crack and hole in the AV bay. It was sealed. Looks like a deer or cow stepped on it. I guess it could be from bashing back and forth in the wind for a month……. Anyway, it will fly again.
Thanks everyone,

I am tempted to go hunt for it.
Glad you found yours. I since got a Big Red Bee beacon to track my rockets. It worked last launch and surely would have kept me from losing this one.
I have come to the realization that I need to put trackers in nearly all my rockets.

I figured that one out. 😉
It may be your epoxy. That cheap 10 minute stuff from Hobby Town is prone to letting go, if that’s what you used. It’s also brittle and prone to breaking and separating.
I like Aeropoxy. I have had rockets found after months in the sun and wind and the fillets and fins are still perfect. It takes a bit of time (6 hours) to set up, but it hardens well while having some plasticity. It also seems to bond really well to fiberglass. I get my Aeropoxy from Giant Leap.
People also like West Systems too, I’ve never used it.
It was still nice you found it. My rocket fillets on the lost bird may be fine, but if I don’t have the damn thing it’s a moot point.
We are Good to Go with our scheduled and approved launch on Saturday April 5th and Sunday April 6th, from the North Site, subject to change – Mostly cloudy and High Winds predicted. Range and waiver should be active by 9AM on Saturday. The Pawnee National Grassland remains fragile and dry, so extra precautions are in order. Please stay on the authorized roads and please don’t park more than 100’ off the road at the flight line.
