A photographer friend of mine tagged along yesterday (some of you met Ray),, and since Mike wasn’t there, here’s a few pictures he took. He told me I could share the link..

My 4th E in the Alphabet did a really great CATO. It just got off the pad when it blew out both ends, removed the motor mount, fractured the fin mounts and started a little grass fire from grass growing out of cracks in the asphalt.
The chute came out, the rocket landed, but it is a hollow tube now. Bummer. I guess I can pay my $5 and continue on with the “E’s”, or is this procedure incorrect.
Bear, for D-E-F redos it is $10. You can pick up again with the 4th E.
What motor Cato’d? I pressed the launch button for a few E-28s yesterday that had a very hard start with a few AP fragments leaving the nozzle.

Thank you for these pictures. I was too nervous and busy to worry about pictures of my L2 cert flight (the purple orange and yellow rocket). I hope I can steal these for my own use. JackMatt – Does your friend sell the full-res versions? I’d like to get those if possible. He can contact me at david[at]thepinters.com Thanks again for the link.
Chad,
It was an Estes E9-6. Guess I will be going back to the AT ones that I have.
Guess I will be doing a $10 do-over in April. If you are not there, I will try to give the money to Joe unless you want me to mail it.

Dave – I’m sure you can work a deal with Ray. I sent him your contact information,,, he travels a bit, so if you don’t hear from him in a few days, PM me and I’ll give him a call on his cell and see if he’s interested.
That green rocket was my Tethys (aka Toothless). I lost it. I sent it up without a tracker. Think it hit 7,000 feet.
Maybe someone will find it.
Steve
We are Good to Go with our scheduled and approved launch on Saturday April 5th and Sunday April 6th, from the North Site, subject to change – Mostly cloudy and High Winds predicted. Range and waiver should be active by 9AM on Saturday. The Pawnee National Grassland remains fragile and dry, so extra precautions are in order. Please stay on the authorized roads and please don’t park more than 100’ off the road at the flight line.
