Ok so I couldnt help it! I missed the March launch.
So I added a fifth stage. A 4 “D” cluster on the bottom.
1 D12-0 in the middle to light the second single “D” stage.
And 3 D12-3s in pods on the out side. I figure that way the ejections
of the pod moters will not mess with the flight.
Another option would be some big plugged “C”s in the pods.(no ejections)
They burn out at about half the time as the “D”s.
But the dont have as much push to get it off the pad. Hmmmmmmmm 🙄
The final sustainer will return with 3 40 ft. orange streamers. (Um maybe) 😉
I haven’t done it, but a SU composite booster should light a BP sustainer, but not the other way around.
But, can you get them without a delay?
I supose with a reloadable you could leave the delay element out and put in a little more powder? 🙄
Since you missed the March launch, you missed the theoretical 7.02sec of dodging you talked about up top…… Plus the BOOM of one of the stages blowing up… I don’t remember who gave us the fireworks display and short dodge session, but, it was pretty interesting to say the least…. I think it was a 3 stage w/ “D” cluster on the 1st stage, about a 6′ rocket.
Someone else needs to chime in on this one, I was pretty nervous waiting for my L1 cert flight…..
I’d worry about too much air space w/o the delay in the rebuildable – nice boom affect…. Also, wouldn’t that just ignite stage 2?
What about just taking some of the delay out with a drill bit???? I had good luck with that on both of my flights this month. I took a 10 sec delay and made it about an 8 sec on one of the launches.
We are Good to Go with our scheduled and approved launch on Saturday April 5th and Sunday April 6th, from the North Site, subject to change – Mostly cloudy and High Winds predicted. Range and waiver should be active by 9AM on Saturday. The Pawnee National Grassland remains fragile and dry, so extra precautions are in order. Please stay on the authorized roads and please don’t park more than 100’ off the road at the flight line.
