Mile High Mayhem has been WASHED OUT – NO GO for Launch weekend June 5th thru 7th. The prairie has gone from one extreme – dry and tinder – to another – soggy and saturated. To protect and preserve our launch site on the Pawnee National Grassland, NCR has cancelled Mile High Mayhem for 2015. Persistent afternoon thundershowers, current and forecast through the next week and weekend, have kept the access road impassable for the number of anticipated vehicles.
NCR will petition to add an additional day (Friday, July 10th) of flying to our scheduled High Skies in July launch event.
Even CRASH launches have been placed on hold due to the recent flooding in Bear Creek Lake Park. The park closures include their launch site. At this point in time, the only active launch site available is with SCORE, at the Hudson Ranch, located about 9.5 miles west from the Walmart (at Pueblo Blvd. & Hwy. 78) on the Beulah Highway.
We are Good to Go with our scheduled and approved launch on Saturday April 5th and Sunday April 6th, from the North Site, subject to change – Mostly cloudy and High Winds predicted. Range and waiver should be active by 9AM on Saturday. The Pawnee National Grassland remains fragile and dry, so extra precautions are in order. Please stay on the authorized roads and please don’t park more than 100’ off the road at the flight line.
