SCOTT EVANS
I was thinking of building a salvage rocket and it should be able to go pretty high. 🙂
I have whats left of my old AeroTec 29mm powered Arkus /Sugar Daddy /Cotton Candy Rocket. (Joes favorite pink rocket dont you know)
I was gona sand and glass the tubes, add my Quantum sustainer fins and put in some 38mm motor tubing I have for power. 8)
My question is, how long of a motor tube should I allow for?
How long is the longest case in 38mm? 🙄Scott e

ParticipantOh come on Scott. Not MAN enough for a 39″ long case????? 😆
A 38/1080 case is 18.8″ w/o the aft closure. So, figure a nice round 19″ That gets you a J570-J824 motor. Can we say kaboom….Now, if you want to burn an EX motor with six 4″ long grains, you need about a 28″ long case. But, you would have to join the dark side to do that 😈

Doug GerrardParticipantThe case was for a J1500, 1500 Ns and a burn time of 1 second!

I like it! A J1500? can we build a load for that? Do you have nozzles / closures? Sounds like a nice, gentle boost 😯

You know…..
I was thinkin, It might be best, if I didnt have to make a hole in the nose cone, for the motor to stick out of! 😕
And as far as joining the dark side, well…. I all ready go both ways. 🙂
Im a card carrying double agent! 8)
And you know what else? I was gona paint it somethin cool, like Black.
But I warn you now, I still have some Pink Paint left on the shelf! 😡March 11, 2009 at 1:43 pm #50076
Doug GerrardParticipantDo you have nozzles / closures?
Yes. It was designed for the all carbon rocket from Shadow Composites. I don’t know if James or anyone else could build the grains but you’re welcome to borrow it. It tests a rockets integrity for sure. Just make sure your altimeter is rated for more than 50 g’s….

If you paint it pink, I’ll make sure there is a lump of coal in your stocking from Santa this year. AND you will be kicked out of the he man club. I might just have to slap you with a glove or something of the sorts too.
Doug/John.
I for one would LOVE to see that motor fly… I’d be happy to take a Wed off work and help James build that one. HINT HINT James…..March 11, 2009 at 5:25 pm #50078SCOTT EVANS
