ParticipantGood call on the cancellation, Joe – it is absurdly dry and we have ANOTHER fire burning in the foothills west of Loveland tonight. If it doesn’t rain in October, we’ll miss November’s launch as well….
In year one, we nixed MHM due to drought. I believe this is only the 2nd time we’ve cancelled a major launch? Drat.

ParticipantYes it is. What Mayhem are we on anyway now? Mayhem one never happened, Mayhem 2 was our the first Mayhem. Oktoberfest went as planned though that year.

I know of 5. So, 8, 9? (Right call, btw, Joe.)

I remember May 2003 being a big launch, but I don’t know if it was officially called “Mile-High Mayhem” at that time.

MikeSModeratorWould not have been many flights today. The wind is
pretty bad. Was within 15 or so miles of the North Site
just a bit ago.The predicted 21 mph gusts, seem much stronger,
We got some pretty good rain yesterday here in Cheyenne
but it did not look like that area did.October 10, 2010 at 7:03 pm #53189
Warren B. MusselmanModeratorI predict Mayhem 2011 is going to be epic… we’ve asked for 50K windows and I know of several projects that have been frustrated by the cancellation of Oktoberfest. It can only get better….

Any chance of getting the 35k waiver for the 11/6 launch (assuming the rain continues!) since we didnt get to use it for octoberfest? I’ve got my L3 Goose ready to fly (again) and It’ll definitely go over 20k so was hoping to not have to wait until MHM to fly it…. thats like 7 months away, I can’t wait that long!
-Sean50k waiver for MHM? wow that would be AWESOME!

Jeffrey Joe HintonModeratorDon’t hold your breath for the 50K happening – Denver Center wasn’t in favor of the 35K windows we’ve been provided with – too much air traffic in our neck of the woods. IF we are go for launch in November, there are “windows” available to 35K, depending on the weather and jet stream and air traffic and everything else being what it is.

ParticipantA buddy of mine who lives in Ault says they have gotten almost no rain whatsoever. There has been a trivial amount in the Windsor area. I’d say if we had a launch this weekend, it’d be doubtful conditions-wise…
A few of us who live up this way (Sean, Elvis, Doug, myself, and or Mike S.) can run out to the N site a few days before the next launch to check conditions.
The takeaway here is that N Colorado hasn’t gotten all that much rain. Very, very little, actually…
