Hi All,
Just thought I’d give an update on some of the vendors I have spoken with recently about Oktoberfest. Bryan from The Rocket Garden will only be present on Friday and Saturday so make sure you get your motors and goodies before he leaves. Also Tim from Apogee indicated he will probably not attend this year but hadn’t made a final decision.
I look forward to meeting more of you in October!
Cheers,
John

Do you know if there will be an AMW vendor onsite?

ModeratorBest to let Tim Thomas from Giant Leap know NOW if there’s a special animal you’re looking for. AMW is in Florida and they are still recovering from huricane Fay and LDRS orders.

8) My AMW supply is pretty good in the 54MM sizes. Lots of small 75 and a few big ones. LDRS hammered us, but I held back motors for Octoberfest. I have loaner cases, might be fun to try an AMW load. Cesaroni supply is alittle worn down in the 38 stuff, good in the 54 and all the 75 and 98’s are in stock 🙂 Aero is sending me an order late next week, so we will be full in AeroTech’s lineup. Lots to choose from, so we should be ready for fun! New load of QuickBurst igniters is on the way! 8)

ModeratorAnother update on vendors. Boy Scout Troop 548 from Longmont plans on doing concessions – hot dogs, chips, sodas – on Saturday.

What can we expect for payment types with the vendors on site? Cash is always good I’m sure but I was specifically thinking about vendors with larger kits and electronics for sale specifically. What is the norm at an event like this? Thanks for the inputs.

ModeratorMost of the vendors – Missileworks, Giant Leap, Rocket Garden, Photos by Nadine – accept credit cards and checks.

I’m new to the club, but it seems the Octoberfest is geared toward the public. is there a flyer/poster to post around town? A radio public service announcement? I know a few people who might come out.

ModeratorActually, we’ve done our best to minimize publicity. A few years ago we had over 500 people show up due to an article in the Greeley and Fort Collins papers and there were significant problems with people parking on the prairie and litter. We don’t have a formal land use permit and we use the site on the sufferance of the USFS and could lose the site if we don’t treat it gently.
The rocketry community is well informed of the event and it is one of the high points of the year in the Colorado rocketry community. We strive to keep it quiet outside that community to minimize the crowd issues and keep from having to get even more volunteers to manage that crowd and the parking.
Speaking of which, we need volunteers for all sorts of things: Working the Administration Tent – handling registration, selling raffle tickets, etc.; we need LCO’s for all three days, RSO’s, Pad Managers on Saturday and we need someone to volunteer to tow the equipment trailer back to storage on Sunday afternoon. Click here http://www.ncrocketry.org/modules.php?name=Volunteers to check out the volunteer page and contact Ed Dawson at volunteer@ncrocketry.org.
