ParticipantI thought I’d start a thread to see who-is-flying-what at O’fest. For my part, it has been 18 months since I started a new project. That changed today, as I began work on a project that I hope will be my highest boost to date.
The project is named “Rough Draft” – which is the name of a band that a friend’s son started. This rocket is a minimum diameter M that I hope will go to ~34K. I hope to use this as a learning event for a 4″ project later – hence “Rough Draft” is doubly significant….

So John…..
I get a feeling thats a Moon Burner project. That would take 4″.
You were very inquisitive at MHM, about the little “M” I burned. 🙂
I saw it in your eyes!!! 😉
Ive put my order in with Tim for the Bigger M-795 for O-fest.
I expect 18000 in my bigger 5″ Rocket. At least after I repair it from the tangled main at the Chili Blaster today in Pe-eb-lo on the L-610 I used.
Even that Motor was cool. I love the long Burners! 8)Scott e

ModeratorI’ll be attempting my L3 for the 3rd time. Same motor, slightly shorter rocket. It has gotten about 9″ shorter since my first attempt at MHM, then got shorter again in July. I think it is about 108″ long, 3 fins on an aluminum fincan. Last time I hit Nearly 26000′ feet. This time I’m trimming it and hoping to get 5 miles. I know it is within reach, just have to get a good boost like last time, oh, and not zipper the airframe. 🙂
I’m also working on a 2 stage hybrid project with a friend. The booster is built and is 4″ and will fly on a SRS J348. The top stage will be 3″ with an Alpha I250.

ParticipantFirst, Scott – not a moon burner, but that would be cool. Those typically don’t do well w/ minimum diameter as the fins melt off 😯 or the off-axis thrust doesn’t do well will tiny fins (which are often a feature of minimum diameter). Bottom line, this is not a moonburner project. I’ll keep you in suspense for a few weeks 8)
Edward, you will do great. Third time is the charm. For the record, it took me three swings to get my L3 – and then I ripped off 13 M-or-above boosts without a hitch. I look forward to seeing the mighty RATT M900 fly again. In fact, I may fly it myself at O’Fest. Stay tuned…

I finally got my Crimson Comet (that flew last Oktoberfest as the Gray Ghost on a CTI M1060) painted red, so it’ll fly on a research M, a Russell Red, so the rocket and flame will be a brilliant red. 8)

AdrianParticipantIf my 38mm sustainer or 2nd stage come back from XPRS, I’ll go for the SSSS, and/or I and J altitude records. If just my 1st stage comes back, I’ll probably go for an I record (but not a SSSS, since I flew that one already). Note to self: Make several nosecones!

ParticipantI’ll be bringing the Firestorm 54 I bought from Tim, hoping to get my L2 cert (NAR). The bird flew in July so it’s broken in, but that was one ‘chute, bp deploy. O-fest will be my first electronic deploy, and my first dual deploy. Gonna be an expensive crash if I screw up!
(Scott, I’m gonna be calling you soon for mentoring and hand-holding!)

ParticipantUse your ground testing to clear out your DD jitters. Then fly with confidence (well, mostly anyway) 🙄
