Nate
Pish, H motor…. 😉
Edit: Very nice Miranda by the way. I got my L1 on the same rocket, only mine was Quantum Tubing instead of that fancy stuff.

What an utterly gorgeous rocket!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I hope you aren’t going to paint that thing? Beautiful!!!
On a totally different note, PML got into the kick of naming some rockets after the moons of Uranus (Miranda and Ariel). Almost all the celestial objects are named after mythological characters, EXCEPT the moons of Uranus — they are named after characters from Shakespeare. “Miranda” was the daughter of Prospero, the magician in “The Tempest“. Maybe you could upscale this someday and call the bigger bird “Prospero”? Would make a nice L3! 😉
Sorry for the sidebar, but I’m an English lit major who builds telescopes. I also try to put a lot of work into rocket names. The fact remains, you built an incredibly beautiful rocket!

weight is 3lbs 4.3oz not including chute; so approx 56oz guesstimate with chute; only 4oz heavier than what the PML datasheet said. not bad.
As for paint; I’m thinking of an Audi color called Nogaro Blue, with some carbon showing through somehow as an accent; it’ll be really nice!

ModeratorVery nice rocket. You did an excellent job aligning the weave in the fabric. I also would vote for leaving a significan’t amount of it visible.

Haha…
Exactly my point 😆
At that weight though, it should have a nice (though low and slow) flight on an H123, the H180 or H148 would kick it a bit better, and the H242 or 220 would be good hard hitting motors. The H268 (the “barely an H” motor, or more accurately, the “almost an I”) would be awesome too – LONG red flame, hard hit, decent altitude. Probably my favorite 29mm motor 🙂

8) Realy nice work Jay! Again, this year Giant Leap Rocketry will be offering the Cessaroni Level 1 Kit. It is a H153 motor and case for 20.00. I think this would be OK for your Cert, but personaly I would go with the Pro 3gr I205. A VERY reliable motor with just the pop you would like for the Miranda! I would be more than happy to upgrade you to the I205 for the same 20.00, Call it a reward for fine work! If you are interested E-mail me at tim4glr@aol.com I use the I205 all the time, and I GAR-ON-TEE you will like it. 8)

I have to agree with that – it’s a nice motor, though it doesn’t have the massive flame, huge kick, or deafening roar that the Loki I405 has (though that’s probably a good thing for a cert flight 😆 )

Nice, I will most likely take you up on the L1 deal; sounds like fun to me!
Not much work happend last week, was really busy with work and all; not to mention the b.s. with my car getting totalled/rear ended. Should have an update within a few days; getting ready for paint!
