I believe at Oktoberfest BAMF will see it’s 11th flight … alla Conway Blue formula in a Tag team of Art provides the rocket I provide the power. 😉
I wont be flying any of my own birds at OF but plenty of motors will be flown.
I remember the fun I had last year at Xprize and helping Art it was a good time.
Bummed still yet that I wont be able to make it to Xprize this year even though I was invited to go and fly Full Throttle. Just not in the cards of finaces and time. But there is next year I hope and its possible I will have a new project I can fly there..
I’ve posted a couple of photos in the Photo Album – “Carbon Diem” (more to come). Thanks to Art and Conway for the tips and advice on both clear coating and composite construction. Can’t wait to fly! First flight will be a K185. Second will be something much bigger.
Ken, that is beautiful work! Uh, how much bigger than a K? 8)
It’s only a 54mm MMT so I can only go so big. Thinking maybe a K550 or a K700 at least from AT. There may be a 54mm motor from another vendor that I haven’t looked at yet.
I see some 54mm diameters on some kits saying they can fly up to L’s. I honestly don’t know either. I haven’t checked. Tim would know. It really looks good. A K700 can take a GLR Vertical Assault to 10k. Bet yours might do that, too. Nice work, Ken. 😉
8) Cessaroni has a L330. One took Jasons big End. over 13K 8)
8) Loki has an L1400. 2850nt. in 2 seconds! Holy Crap, I want one!!!! Big 54/ 2800 case. There is that big Ellis L. AMW has 2, 54/2500case, a L1300BB and L1110RR, I am sure their are more…. 8)

Yep – that’s the L1400 🙂
Awesome motor 😀
I’ve given some casual thought about putting that L1400 in a minimum diameter rocket. Can’t be any worse than a J570 in a 28oz. 38mm rocket? I should simulate that… I think the challenge would be getting it up to optimal mass. I’d bet you’d have to add 3-5# of lead.
I’ll have to think about that one 😯 Without an Acme fin can, that would be a pretty dicey trip.
I flew the Cesaroni L730 in my Endeavour at the August NCR launch. It went 11,274. I am planning to do it again at Octoberfest.
Ken, you can watch that motor in my rocket, then see if you want to try it. Very nice rocket by the way.
We are Good to Go with our scheduled and approved launch on Saturday April 5th and Sunday April 6th, from the North Site, subject to change – Mostly cloudy and High Winds predicted. Range and waiver should be active by 9AM on Saturday. The Pawnee National Grassland remains fragile and dry, so extra precautions are in order. Please stay on the authorized roads and please don’t park more than 100’ off the road at the flight line.
