Warren B. MusselmanModeratorBefore you worry about commercial motor costs, why not have Joe Hinton talk to Dr. J at Cesaroni and see if we can get some comp’d motors or at least motors at cost? Cesaroni has been quite free in the past.
By the way, I do have an AMW 54/1750 and 54/2550 cases that you are more than welcome to use for this project. I’m sorry if I haven’t taken the kind of dive into this project that I did with the Delta II, but got a lot of shit going on right now to take on such a large project. If you need sub-systems such as fins or couplers, ebay, etc. laid up and vacuum bagged, I’d be glad to do it. Can’t commit to much more.

ParticipantNice Steve!
How did the tubes turn out from the previous weekend?
Let me know if your working Saturday, my brother is in town but I think I am just meeting him for dinner so I have a few hours I can kill.

Tubes came out great .. ready to sand down a bit, especially the seam/lap .. and then apply the 4 oz wrap. I should have the motor mount tubes by Sat and will get the MMT/fin assembly finished and start on the outboard motor mounts. Also want to build the motor mount assembly for the sustainer and start looking at interstage options.
Lots to do so I will definitely be there unless I get called to work .. very rare occurrence.
Thanks!

I’ll be working on the Proton again this Sat. More glassing and hopefully more work on the motor mount assemblies. We have a grill and were thinking of having burgers or dogs for lunch.
Let me know if you are coming ..
This will likely be the last weekend for a few weeks .. I will have surgery for a Hernia next week and be limited for a few weeks.
Thanks, Steve

I’ll try to be there. Any tools I need to bring? Are you starting at 10?

BEARYep .. shooting for 10 am and bringing deli meat and rolls for sandwiches .. gotta eat this time (more than donuts). We should be good on tools. We could use some sandpaper to sand down the seams on the tubes we glassed so we can apply the 4 oz glass next. I have 2 orbital type sanders and 1 belt sander. Probably some 150 grit and some 400.
See ya!

I wish I could help! Seems though that my second job always interferes with my Saturdays. Good luck on the upcoming surgery. Hope to see you back and ready to build some more. Keep us posted and I am hoping to find a free Saturday to join the fun.

Thanks .. and I hope you get a chance to join in too .. it’s fun and quite a learning experience working on a big complex project. I’ll be out of work 3-4 weeks, but should be pretty mobile by the 2nd week. I hope to get up there more often .. maybe some weekday afternoon/evenings and/or Sundays as well. Need to take advantage of this ‘time off’ if at all possible.
