Thanks to all for the great work today. We made good progress on many fronts. The nosecones (main & outboards) are well underway, as is the 3rd stage.
We laid out the electronics with Adrian and have a good plan there. We also started on the Launch Erector that will display, and possibly launch, this gorgeous beast!
I forgot my camera today so didn’t get any pics.

ParticipantI got a couple of pictures today. Here are Dave and Mira using Ken’s hot wire cutter to carve the top half of the main nose cone. The bottom half of the nose cone is sitting on the body tube on the right. Stage 2’s motor assembly is in the foreground, being epoxied together.

And here’s an AMAZING shot — a picture of Steve actually working! 😛

He’s marking out some 1/4″ plywood to make the facade of the Proton launch erector….

And all the fins for three stages were cut out, and some 12″ tubes were glassed. There were also tubes that were sanded down and belts on the belt sander replaced and some spray adhesive was acquired for gluing together the seven layers of the nose cone and Tyler and Mira were able to expirement on the hot wire cutter and make designs in foam. Tyler also got to hang out at an airport, check out the rides, identify Mooney’s from other aircraft, and all in all, druel over the activity. Hang in there Tyler. 8)

So we’re on for the build tomorrow from 10 am on. Was told at work today I would -have- to work tomorrow but got a last minute reprieve. We are getting to that time of year and I expect more mandatory Sat’s .. so after this week I may have to start scheduling builds for Sun .. or risk not being able to attend. I usually won’t know until Fri afternoon if I will have to work on Sat.
Please reply if you’re coming so Rich will know how much lunch to bring. Thanks! Rich .. as always.
