We’ll be in Longmont again Sunday trying to wrap this project up .. could use some help. Have to still glass stage 3 but 1 and 2 are ready for sand and paint. Please let me know if you’ll be coming.
Thanks! Steve
I plan on coming.
Yep.
How did things go on Sunday. Was there much progress made and what still remains to be done?
We had a good day Sun and got a good start on the painting .. which always makes things seem ‘more done’. Ken and John did an awesome job on the main nosecone and it’s ready for paint. Also made progress on finishing the parachute bays and 3rd stage ebay.
Still need to glass the 3rd stage through the transitions and finish the outboard nosecones. I hope to get a lot done after work this week .. I brought it all home again.
Here’s a few pics ..
..
.. somehow Tyler wrangled himself a ride in a helicopter .. as co-pilot .. we were all jealous

Way to go Tyler! Looks like some variant of a Bell Jet Ranger (as opposed to a Eurocopter). How cool is that!
Hey…….. I never got a ride in that chopper! Maybe I need to be more agressive! 😕
Scott, You have been very warm, friendly, and generous to Steve and the crew in allowing us and the build in your hanger, but obviously, you are just not that friendly to the neighbors in your HOA. If you were more friendly, get curious about what they are doing, and look like a 10 year old boy, they might let you go for a ride! LOL (Or it could be the ilk and the continuing stream of strange characters you are allowing in your hanger in an un-supervised manner. Why the hall monitor was in several times in a single day talking to us about keeping the bathroom clean and the door locked, and parking, and did we have any live propellant and that thing wont go off will it? You know the drill. I mean just look at the pictures of the people. The creepiest character is that bald headed, bearded fat guy wearing glasses)
We’ll be working on the Proton this Sat in Longmont. Depending on what gets done, and what’s left to do, I may go up Sun as well. Let me know who’s comin …
Got rockets to fly on Saturday but if we’re working Sunday, I’m in.
We are Good to Go with our scheduled and approved launch on Saturday April 5th and Sunday April 6th, from the North Site, subject to change – Mostly cloudy and High Winds predicted. Range and waiver should be active by 9AM on Saturday. The Pawnee National Grassland remains fragile and dry, so extra precautions are in order. Please stay on the authorized roads and please don’t park more than 100’ off the road at the flight line.
