Do you guys have a flight schedule yet? This one is definitely worth planning around.
Our plan is to launch the Proton between 1:00 and 2:00 on Sunday .. though these things can often run late. That’s late enough for people to get there but hopefully before the winds pick up. Weather, of course, will dictate what really happens.
So is anyone interested in doing a group dinner one of the nights, I think Sunday after the launch would be best? A pot luck type thing maybe? I know Dave expressed an interest.
I can make a big pot of Chili.
Let me know so we can start planning.
Here’s a mock up of the graphics available from Mark at StickerShock. Looks pretty awesome. I did wonder if I should get him to resize the name “NPOTOH-M” bigger to closer match the real one .. or leave it as is. It may not be worth the cost and time to mess with it. It does look pretty awesome as is. I need to decide today.
He’s also working on a Team Proton logo we can add and add later to the Event T-Shirts I’ll make with pics of “our” Proton lifting off.
Your thoughts?
Vinyl Graphics are ordered and I created a Team Logo to add to the graphics and to the shirts I’ll make after the launch w/ a liftoff shot of ‘our’ Proton.

Kewl!
I’ll contribute up to 25 e-matches – Oxral, Daveyfire, M-tek, you take your choice. I have a significant collection in my magazine.
Thanks Warren .. it looks like between James and Ken we are covered .. but I’ll keep your offer in mind.
Well .. it’s our last weekend and still a few things to do. Want to add a final coat of paint and finish off the electronics placement and recovery system. I may have the graphics by then as well (they have been shipped). Also need to mount the rail buttons.
See ya!
I’ll make time to come out sometime this weekend to help finish with the electronics.
Hey Gang! We have a bit of a snafu with the planned parachutes and may will need to do some scrounging. We had planned for a 16′ or so chute for the booster section .. about 80 lbs .. but looks like that isn’t going to happen. We have a number of options but would love 1 big one vs multiple small ones. I have 2 – 10′ and 2 -8′ chutes. 3 – 10′ chutes should handle the booster and we should have room for that. The upper sections will be closer to 35 lbs each. I was planning one of the 10′ chutes for each section .. don’t believe the 8’er is big enough for the 35 lbs.
Any big (10′ and up) chutes available for loan out there? Ideas? options?
Thanks, Steve
in regards to the P.L.P, I will bring some smoked pulled pork.
We are Good to Go with our scheduled and approved launch on Saturday April 5th and Sunday April 6th, from the North Site, subject to change – Mostly cloudy and High Winds predicted. Range and waiver should be active by 9AM on Saturday. The Pawnee National Grassland remains fragile and dry, so extra precautions are in order. Please stay on the authorized roads and please don’t park more than 100’ off the road at the flight line.
