It’s Friday morning and I just got the smoker going for this Sunday; menu list includes smoked carnitas and grilled chicken fajitas. Thanks to those who pm-ed me on coming. For those who haven’t, it will be difficult to find my house without the information. I am in north Longmont.
Also, for those who are interested but who did not participate in the original build of the Proton, you are welcomed to come as well if you are interested in “picking up the pieces” and perhaps contributing this go around.

Hey Team .. here’s something for you to mull over before the party on Sunday.
I will likely be taking a job in Glenwood Springs and moving there in the next 3 weeks.
The Proton is yours to do with as you see fit. Please do not let it sit untouched for 8 years like the Delta II .. but it’s your call.
Dave … Sasha and I will be there Sunday.
Thanks!

Glenwood Springs? Is there someplace to fly around there? Will you have to go see Tim Thomas and the western slope guys to fly? Will there have to be a new prefect?

ModeratorSteve hasn’t been Prefect in 8 years. Joe Hinton is TRA Prefect. As far as I know, the only HP activity in the state is here on the Front Range with NCR, Tripoli Colorado and SCORE having the only launch sites. If you’re on the Western Slope, you do like Tim Thomas and come over here to fly or you go to Utah and fly with UROC on the salt flats.
Congrats on the job Steve.

ModeratorActually, I think Bear was thinking Prefecture on the Western Slope. Tim Thomas and friends have discussed starting a NAR Charter and with the new relaxed rules, that probably will happen. Otherwise, and I don’t advocate this position, cowboy rocketrry is alive and happening in parts of the greater western states just becasue there aren’t enough people to actually get a club organized.
CRASH flies twice monthly although non-waivered so limited to a few H’s and under and COSROCS is also very active on the front range but they are on the other side of Monument Pass.

ParticipantThe Russians must have been watching our MHM flight last year and decided to copy our technology:

ParticipantWhen I saw that video this morning, I immediately thought that it looked eerily familiar……
Obviously, though, our range safety officer Adrian (who programmed the electronics to not light stages 2 & 3 if things went wrong) is much more competent than the Russians’….. 😀 (I read that they don’t have destruct systems on their rockets like we do on ours)
At least ours only cost us $2000 — their failure cost $300,000,000………..

Hey Steve!
Good to hear that the Western Slope is fun. This past week I managed to uncover all of the music files that I grabbed from your hard drive. That’s a ton of Southern Rock! I’ve been listening to your recordings as well, and simply love them! Your guitar playing is inspiring!
Hope all is well with you.
