I am very happy with what we got as far a waiver. I do have a rocket an Ex rocket that sims to 41,000 but that has alway been a Balls project. I am working with Scott on his 75,000 project as well and would need a big waiver. I don’t mind driving to Black Rock to launch since it is a great place to fly from. But so is NCR’s North site and Hartsel as well.

Since Gene N. did his 93,000 flight I have in the works both an 8 inch vehicle and or a 10 inch vehicle and I plan on going even higher. I have been working on the paperwork. But funds are holding me back. Plus it is still in the planning stages anyway.

It was just a suggestion as the two of you seem to be the pointmen for getting Research adopted.

Obviously, you are a free agent and no doubt can pull this off. My own feelings are mixed. I want to see some really cool projects Sunday, including some that get between 20 and 30K. I think O’s and big projects like you propose will really light the fire of interest in the non-research guys out to spectate. On the other hand there were some hair raising staging mishaps at LDRS this year–not all research by the way. This is what we don’t need, either on Sat or Sunday, or any other time.

I totally understand LDRS, I was there and I saw some of the same hair raising events you spoke of. My rocket however is a very stable rocket and I have flown these very well characterized motors many times. So as for my Sponge Bob rocket I am not worried about. The two stage sugar motor may not even fly. Looks like Nate has finals and may not be able to make it. I am not sure if this rocket will fly at MHM unless I can get a flight in before May at the April research day.

Yea, Bummer about Nate. Hope he can figure a way to reschedule the exams. And thanks for the additional info, sponge bob sounds like a winner (and remains one of my favorite cartoons of all time.)

PS: So right that staging mishaps can happen with commercial motors–hoping Midlife Crisis isn’t one of them–now slated to fly saturday on the big 98mm M from AT for the boost, and an AMW 1350 WW sustain. If that goes w/o a hitch I’ll be in hog heaven for weeks. Sunday I hope to fly the 1/2 scale Black Brant on a WR 75/6300 load.

Well I figured I would bring an old thread back up… as we are getting closer to MHM how is everyones Research Day projects coming. I have a little touch up work here and there but still have to cast my grains and smoke delay for my motor. No biggie. But i should probably just get after it… lol.

Well, in preparation for the 2007 season I’ve static tested about 50K N worth of motors. 🙂 Looks to be a fun year.
