Got my chute section added (that’ll cost me some added drag… oh, well), all that’s left is a little sanding and wax, so I’ll be ready next launch. Checked home on the site, and it’s still windy out there. Warren, adding the weather is one of the neatest and necessary things you’ve added among all the rest of the good stuff. Very cool and appreciated.
On the back burner is an upgraded weather section that includes all aviation weather reports – winds at altitude, jet stream, etc. All the weather is essentially Greeley weather by the way.

OK, this week is my build week for my SSS rocket. I plan on laying up the tube tomorrow, with fins to come later in the week.I finalized my design yesterday, and with any luck, it’ll be done by the end of the week other than electronics and final finishing.
I’m shooting for 7/8 for sss, later for ssss. Just be returning from LDRS where I’ll spend a week–hope i’m not too burned out to fly in july. But good warnings–last year after july we hed two cancelletions due to weather and a bump for Art Hoag day which conflicted with Balls, and the dec date was so cold figured no one would show up. But Ed D. did!
So out of 4 potential flight dates, only one was available to me, so be careful bout being too cagey.

Well, got the tube done for my SSS. Here it is:
EDIT: link on next page
Hope it all works out – the tube came out better than expected though as far as weight is concerned – about 3g lighter than anticipated.
Link isn’t working for me 🙁
Hmmm…
Try this one
well i think the bar has been set here for AF’s–unless you glue your fins to the g80, aint gonna get lighter or thinner than this.
JS
Yep – by my calipers, it has a thickness of .010 inches 😀
Don’t think you can get much thinner than that and have it be strong enough for a G80 😀
Of course if you want to prove me wrong, go ahead. I’d love to see an even lighter tube if it’s possible

0.01–no way, ya need a stable solid and shear resistant AF–not some will’o’the’wisp virtual body that rocksim loves, but nothing can grip to.
Good luck!

We are Good to Go with our scheduled and approved launch on Saturday April 5th and Sunday April 6th, from the North Site, subject to change – Mostly cloudy and High Winds predicted. Range and waiver should be active by 9AM on Saturday. The Pawnee National Grassland remains fragile and dry, so extra precautions are in order. Please stay on the authorized roads and please don’t park more than 100’ off the road at the flight line.
