So we are discussing the possibility of attending Oktoberfest as our departmental offsite. Along with this I figured everyone could build low/mid power kits. But I also wanted to see about having the team build a rocket to fly on an H/I motor. The problem is of course that none of us have our L1 Certs.
Is there a way we could work that? Could someone with a cert watch/participate in the build and then fly it for us? It couldn’t work as a L1 cert flight because its a team project correct?Any ideas/suggestions would be appreciated. I’ll probably be presenting this proposal next week so I wanted to get it clarified before then if I could.

Jeffrey Joe HintonModeratorI’ll sponsor a flight or two and I’m sure we can find another sponsor or two for L1 flights for your team. A Cert flight is a different issue since it is supposed to be an individual thing. Of course, the other part of that is that to eventually fly high power on your own, membership with NAR or TRA will be required. But I’m pretty sure it can be done, and Oktoberfest is a good time to do it. Yeah, I’d go ahead and do that if i were you…..

Thanks Joe, I appreciate that. I’ll see what everyone thinks next week and we’ll go from there. I think it would be a blast… I just have to convince them.

Hee, hee… Joe will explain that phrase at Oktoberfest. 😉 I’ll sponsor the flight, if needed. I live close enough to take a look at it. If we can’t make contact, I can look it over at Oktoberfest. No big deal, just have fun! I even have an H112J you can “borrow.” I’ve been meaning to use it in something, sounds like a plan to me.
EDIT AFTER THE OFFER: Tim Thomas is a good friend of mine and everyone elses, so please buy the reload from Tim. BUT IF someone is using the motor case he lends out for whatever reload you choose and it’s a 38/360, you can borrow mine, and I’ll even clean it. 😉

I’m wearing my “I’d go ahead and try that if I were you…” T-shirt right now — Scout’s honor!
The unnofficial club motto, of course, been recently updated to the more direct and somewhat demeaning “why dontcha just hitch up yer skirt and go do it”…. I’m sure it is in the club bylaws if we look 8)

ParticipantI don’t have a 29/180 case for an H128W. But……………
If you get another person that wants to fly another rocket I’ll pay for the case, you guys get the reload. Deal?
I need the 180 case and was planning on getting one next trip out. I have a 29/40-120 and a 29/240 w/ seal disk if you want to use one of those….. You have to buy the reloads from Tim up there though. 😀Hey Joe, can I sponsor someone too? What’s the rules on that? I would be more than happy to help someone…… if say they were thinking about joining a certain club and maybe the dark side…. TRA 😆
You guys need to stop it with the skirt thing. You are scaring the children AND me too. I’m going to have to find a Mackey colors Kilt if you don’t watch it. 😛

What motor brands does Tim carry? AMW, AT, CTI etc? Just trying to get an idea what is easy to obtain at launches.
Thanks.

Tim has a giant selection of AT and CTI and I hear he is carrying AMW now. If you like 24mm or smaller or L and bigger you should probably email in advance just to give him a heads up on what you’re planning / looking for.
