A delayed Tim is better than no Tim. Light a fire and make some hot chocolate to enjoy the day!
We’ll get ya soon enough…

I should have listened to Dave2, also.
You know it’s going to be a bad day of rocketry when:
You go to look up directions to the launch site and NCR is mysteriously down.
There are 10 cars in the ditch in the first 5 miles of CO-14, including a couple of nasty roll-overs.
You get out of the car to open the gate and the 0 mph winds predicted have turned into 15 mph of high-humidity, nut-freezing wind.
At the pad, you turn on the transmitter and after it’s beeping awhile, there’s a dropout you can’t explain, and then it comes back again (this one I really should have paid attention to)
You get everything ready, load a Copperhead, and it shorts out along its edge.
You load another one, and it pops out.
You load a Copperhead alternative that Joe was nice enough loan, and it pops out.
Fourth try’s the charm right? Not really. It launched, but the rocket had an altitude-eating corkscrew, and then, worst of all, the signal went away around apogee, and never came back. Nor did the rocket, the altimeter, or the Beeline, which in hindsight may have had a short with the aluminum tape I was using for shielding.
Hmm. Maybe it’s time for a little break from F record attempts.December 2, 2007 at 1:42 am #46040Anonymous
If it is any consolation, the weather is worse here :-O Sorry you had a tough day, Adrian. No rockets launched anywhere near here today 🙁 My wife has a whole new appreciation for Colorado winters now that she has experienced her first Iowa ice storm. Good day for chili!

ModeratorSounds like it was good that I didn’t come out today – I still ended up freezing the nuggets most of the way off by wandering around on my roof trying to find a place to mount a 15′ mast with my anemometer and wind vane for my new electronic weather station. By the time I got the mount bolted up to the chimney and everything aligned, I’d found out how cold it is possible to get in a pair of sweat pants, a t-shirt and a fleece sweater. My fingers were sticking to the steel mast and it took most of a half hour in the hot tub to warm back up… but I had success. Amazing how much wind chill happens in a breeze under 7mph.
