Am I reading it right? Launch in less than 2 weeks at the Atlas site? 🙂
And what about a 35000 foot waiver in July?
Launching at Atlas in June would be new for me. Either there’s a mistake in the calendar or there’s something unusual about the North site availability this year.
From what Joe has said, the rancher wanted to do some special grazing or something at the north launch site in June, so we have been placed at the Atlas site for June flying. You have read correctly and it is not a misprint.
Atlas site for June launch is correct. Grazing issues and footprint impact from MHM big considerations – was discussed at January meeting and arranged accordingly. Windows available again for July North site launch.
🙂 It feels kinda novel to be at the Atas site in June. 🙂
My toes will not be freezing on the concrete pad for the frist time.
I will not be jumping back in the truck to warm up, which usally happens there. It will be a little different. 🙂
What is the ceiling at the Atlas site? I also see there is a research launch the next day – is static testing allowed?
Edward
12,000′ last I checked. Static tests have always been allowed as fire conditions permit. Given the concrete pad and recent moisture, I would expect no issues.
this trip I can leave the snow shovel home.
We are Good to Go with our scheduled and approved launch on Saturday April 5th and Sunday April 6th, from the North Site, subject to change – Mostly cloudy and High Winds predicted. Range and waiver should be active by 9AM on Saturday. The Pawnee National Grassland remains fragile and dry, so extra precautions are in order. Please stay on the authorized roads and please don’t park more than 100’ off the road at the flight line.
