All,
We need a few volunteers for this weekend. Most imporantly we need someone to tow the trailer Saturday morning. No trailer, no launch!
Send me an email if you can help.
volunteer@ncrocketry.org or thedawsons@qwest.net
Thanks!

I’ll be there and will available to push buttons, etc. Just have one flight I need to make. I’ll save ground testing for a friend’s backyard. IF a person can’t be found to haul the trailer to the site, PLEASE contact people so they won’t make a long trip for nothing. Tim Thomas has to drive from Delta, and that’s quite a trip.

And I won’t be able to make it to the first launch in 4 months 🙁
Ahh well – hopefully I can make it next month…

ParticipantSo how hardcore are you guys? I was planning on being there, but the current forecast is calling for temps in the 30’s and 15-25 mph winds. I’m starting to think maybe tomorrow is a building day instead 🙁

ModeratorThe plan is still to launch. The wind is supposed to be dying and temps are supposed to be rising. Sunday might turn out to be even a better day but Saturday is what we’ve got to play with. Plan on the cold and mud and we’ll deal with it.

By Joe’s message, you can see… we’re pretty hardcore. 8) Tim Thomas is already on the road from Delta, CO. I have his phone number to call him if the launch gets cancelled, but that’s not gonna happen. My gear is piled in the livingroom and will be moved to my Element as early as possible tomorrow morning, including my L3 for ground testing. 🙂
Addendum: I think it was last November’s launch (or maybe June’s–all I can remember accurately was that it was last year 🙂 ), most had left. But a few of us remained. I had put my flight on the pad in hail, then the winds came, so I had to take it down. THEN the cold rain came. Ken Plattner and his sons, Tim Thomas and I were huddled under Tim’s tent. I was soaked and cold from my feet to just above my knees, wondering why the hell I was there in that condition. Tim–I think–was the one who told us about James Russell, in worse conditions rain-wise, was found by friends huddled under his bird’s parachute after he went out to get it in a very heavy rain. Hardcore? Oh, yeah… 8)

ParticipantWell, I’m hurrying to finish Ryan’s Alpha. Thank God for 5 minute epoxy. It won’t look too good but it will fly…
Also have Cone Head and Nathan’s Mercury Redstone, plus a few others and a whole lot of C6-5’s.
See ya all there!
