I would certainly be up there if I didn’t have another place I had to be…
Thanks go out to Ken Plattner and Dennis Billings for signing up to tow the trailer. Thanks a million guys!
Also, we can’t forget to thank the LCOs who signed up – Joe H., Art H., Bruce S. and Warren M.
My wife asked me to get something done before I went out to play, so I got to the Atlas site about noon… and no one was there, except for a wind that was hard to stand up in. Hmmm… guess that’s why. You can wait out rain, but not prairie wind. Well, there’s next month, huh? Tim, sorry I couldn’t let you know it time, but you probably knew before I did. 😳
‘Twas miserable indeed. I didn’t plan to fly anything, but did want to go hang with the cool kids for a bit. Conditions were wretched.
This group has always had a nice launch in December OR January OR February. Now we have missed all of those plus March. It has been a long time since anything was lit. My hunch is that we will make up for it in spades when the time comes? If April allows us to fly at the N site, I’ll start things off with a notable blast. Or two. I’m sure there will be others….

Conditions were wretched.
Last January (’06) it was in the 60’s, February (’06) at least mid-50’s, March fine, etc. Boy, if you include last summer’s fire ban, we’ve had too many non-launches. I’ve had a J420R loaded (with loosened end pieces) since Oktoberfest… 😯
We are Good to Go with our scheduled and approved launch on Saturday April 5th and Sunday April 6th, from the North Site, subject to change – Mostly cloudy and High Winds predicted. Range and waiver should be active by 9AM on Saturday. The Pawnee National Grassland remains fragile and dry, so extra precautions are in order. Please stay on the authorized roads and please don’t park more than 100’ off the road at the flight line.
