Ok folks, I’ve been missing in action for some time with very limited computer access and so I haven’t been participating much. That said, I am at least partially back in the world of the connected. So I’m going to try again and see if there are any club members with web design, development and administration skills that they volunteer to the club and that they can COMMIT to sticking with.
I’ve been webmaster for NCR since 2004 and the site that you are on currently was largely built by me with some very professional assistance at times from Jeremiah Johnson (a REAL web pro) who unfortunately had to back away due to family and work responsibilities. We have scads of PHP code, Ajax, Javascript and back-end database issues that I just don’t have the skills to manage and due to my own circumstances little time or energy to devote to rocketry and website management.
This site is based on a very stable content management platform, but quite a bit of the custom code (launch logs, contests, registration and membership management, photo albums) all need a major update and rewrite as well as perhaps a makeover of the look and feel. After all, what you see is pretty much same site I rolled out in 2004-2005.
What the club needs are one or more experienced web developers with skills in PHP, Ajax, Javascript and of course basic HTML. If you have experience with the PHP-Nuke content management system, that also helps. I have repeatedly asked for help with this site at the annual meeting over the last 4 years and people stand up and get excited about it, make plans, have meetings and talk, but when it comes down to actually doing something, everyone seems to fade away and I’m left standing alone. The club needs someone who can COMMIT to this project. After 8 years, we really need someone who I can pass the torch on to. HELP!
Warren the Webmaster.
We are Good to Go with our scheduled and approved launch on Saturday April 5th and Sunday April 6th, from the North Site, subject to change – Mostly cloudy and High Winds predicted. Range and waiver should be active by 9AM on Saturday. The Pawnee National Grassland remains fragile and dry, so extra precautions are in order. Please stay on the authorized roads and please don’t park more than 100’ off the road at the flight line.
