Hey everyone,
So i was at the Tripolio website reading some more and i see this:
DO NOT forget to bring your current TRA or NAR membership card to show proof of insurance. No card, no fly.
SO i had been planning on joining NCR, it looks like i need to join TRA or NAR? Then also join NCR? TRA is $35? NRA is $62? why so much difference? couldn’t figure it out.
By the way, Im very new to rockets, so im still flying A though G’s. Well had been doing A though C’s at the park, think its time for more space, I dont want to be “THAT GUY”. Besides I’m sure you guys have so much to offer to my learning.
So no laughing at my little rockets, I get enough of that around the house, just joking.
Thanks
David

Warren B. MusselmanModeratorIf you fly A thru G, you don’t need to belong to Tripoli or NAR to fly with NCR. I can’t speak for Tripoli Colorado though – it depends on their bylaws so you’d better check their website.
As all events held by NCR and Tripoli Colorado are primarily high power events; belonging to Tripoli is a good idea if you have the slightest inclination to move into H and above. NAR, although sanctioning high power, still does not fully support high power the way that Tripoli does, which is fully focused on high power. NAR still retains its primary focus on low power and low power competition.
If your true focus is A thru G, you might be better off with CRASH, COSROCS or SCORE depending on where you live. Those clubs focus almost 100% on low and mid power model rocketry, though SCORE is definitely moving in the direction of a high power-focused club.

Thanks, Warren.
Thnaks for taking the time to respond.
I figured learning about my low powered rockets, while having you guys as a resource, would greatly insure my chances of success when i move to high power rockets. A picture is worth a thousand words, and i know how my brain works, slowly.
I pledge to give back to NCR and not just steal knowledge!!!!
Thanks
David

AdrianParticipantI’ll try to be there for Saturday, to do a flight test of the 3-stage 38mm bird I’m getting ready for XPRS. I’ll probably fly all 3 stages but only ignite 2 smaller motors to stay under the waiver. It will have more than 4 feet of motors installed in its full-up configuration.

You’re more than welcome to fly any size rocket with us at Hartsel. The only stipulation is the one that applies to any club – to fly high power rockets, you must also be a member of one of the national organizations. Whether it’s NAR or TRA is fine with us. We’ll also happily certify you should you choose to do so.
Hope to see you there!
