If you join NCR (Northern Colorado Rocketry) it is an independent club and that membership allows you to fly at their events. They also require that if you fly high power you be a member of either NAR or Tripoli (TRA). The main difference is the TRA has research days and you can fly commercial motors there, but only if you are a TRA member.
So you do have two organizations you belong to, NCR and either TRA or NAR. Now if you want you can also join Tripoli Colorado (TC) and fly with them.
Oh, and nothing is preventing you from joining TRA and NAR concurrently.
