Northern Colorado Rocketry
2003-06-14 NCR Club Launch

Pawnee Grasslands - North Site

Saturday June 14th, 2003

Launch Summary

The prairie was putting on its best show for the few people who attended this launch. The grass was so lush and green that many rockets were difficult to find. Anything with yellow paint or yellow recovery devices would easily be mistaken for one of the cactus blossums. Chuck and Will Watts flew the Lead Sled for its first flight using the RATT H70. Bob Messner made another charge at the Vern Estes Challenge with his 2 stage Eliminator II, but a sloping flight pattern sacrificed a lot of altitude - reaching a respcitble 1,160' AGL, but not enough to break his old record.

Weather Conditions

Beautiful! Clear, calm and sunny, but temps only edged into the mid-eighties. The late afternoon thunderstorms moved in to provide an awesome lightening display and some light rains.
