Pawnee Grasslands - North Site

Launch Summary

Range operations started off slowly and later than expected due to ground fog and a generally laid back attitude. Jon Skuba opened the range with his Trifecta on a cluster of three Aerotech F-21s. Notable flightrs included Ed Krohne's Torpedo on an Aerotech K-550, utilizing a GPS Downlink and achieving 9,994' in altitude. John Bixler launched a Nike Smoke on an Animal Motor Works L700 Blue Baboon, and Bob Messnerflew a beautifully modeled SR-71 on an Estes D12. Unfortunately, Art Hoag experienced difficulties with his altimeters and consequently did not fly his Slip Stream, set to fly on an Aerotech L1100. And leaky fittings prevented Jon Skuba from launching Piton on a K240. Zack Crawford continued his pursuit of NARTrek Bronze and Tripoli Prefect Steve Mashburn discovered the need for some field repairs on his Loc Forte and finally launched on a cluster of two G35's. Two flyers certified Level One, Eric Dickey and Mike Crawford. Seth Sinnema certifed Level Two.

Weather Conditions

The wind and weather cooperated for most of the day and by about three in the afternoon most had packed it in for the day.
