Launch Summary
Sunrise was a spectacular plash of orange misted in grapefruit pinks and bright white billowy clouds. Notable flights of the day included Mark Lionberger's Tethys and his Sudden Rush on a J-350; Fred Hower's successful Level One flight on an H-242. Ed Dawson attempted his Level 2 certification with his 1/4 scale Patriot on a J-350, but the motor proved to be too much for the launch and the whip of the rod surgically removed his launch lugs. Cameron's bug launched and attempted drag race helped keep the fun going until the last flight of the day from Carl Battles X38 on an I-284.
Weather Conditions
The wind was non-existent in the early dawn hours but slowly materialized into fairly constant 10mph to 14mph breeze. Temperatures never climbed quite as high as expected keeping the visiting crowd of Fort Collins Civil Air Patrol cadets and family comfortable. Scattered clouds kept the ceiling low until almost eleven and then cleared out before the weather ghreatened to wet us down and blow us away. Launch operations closed at 2pm due to the impending storm.
