Northern Colorado Rocketry
2008-03-01 NCR Club Launch - March 2008

Atlas Site - Pawnee National Grassland

Saturday March 1st, 2008

Launch Summary

Regularly scheduled club launch.  Thanks to Bob Dixon for towing our equipment trailer out and back to storage.  Accolades to Tim Thomas for bringing the store and still managing to fly four times.  Huge Praise and Thanksgiving to John Nelson for his backup launch system that saved the day.  38 different flyers put up a total of 116 flights.  Dante Hulin flew the most with ten, just nudging out Chandon Stone and Chris Frazier who each had nine flights and Jon Skuba and Dennis Billings who had eight each.  Notable flights include three certifications to Tripoli members Greg Mackey L1 with his Black Brant Vb on an Aerotech H180 and L1 and L2 to Adrian Adamson with his "Got Around to It", Dante Hulin's Alpha Delta that flew seven of his ten flights, Rick McDonald's Micro-Max Helicopter, David Pinter's Saturn V and Geof Given's "Sephydra".  Flights are listed in a random sequence as the launch cards have been shuffled and sorted a few times eliminating the proper order of events.  Motor usage breaks down as follows, with staged and clusters credited to the largest motor used.  1/8 A's=2, 1/2A's=1, A's=13, B's=17, C's=14, D's=9, E's=10, F's=15, G's=12, H's=9, I's=6, J's=4 and K's=4.

Weather Conditions

Absolutely glorious flying weather.  Greeley-Weld County airport reported calm winds and clear skies below  cloud ceiling at 12,000.  There was a  wisp of wind on the ground, clear to partially high cloudy skies, and temperatures reached into the sixties.   Winds aloft gradually grew to manageable gusts, fortelling the front predicted to roll in Sunday.  Spring is on its way.
