Jeffrey Joe Hinton started the topic NO April NCR Launch in the forum News & Events 5 years, 6 months ago
It is with deep regret that we must announce the cancellation of NCR’s scheduled launch for April 4-5, 2020. This probably should not come as a surprise. We were hoping for the best. However, Colorado has imposed restrictions limiting gatherings of no more than 10 people, closing all non-essential businesses, and restricting general activities. I…[Read more]

We are GO for Launch on Saturday, February 1, at the Atlas Site, subject to normal precautions. Let’s hope Mother Nature cooperates. Expecting partly cloudy skies, winds 8 to 12 mph, gusts up to 18 mph, and maybe the temperatures will reach into the fifties. The current weather predictions appear favorable for flying rockets. The waiver…[Read more]

So, after launching Crowd Pleaser a few times, getting through a few other life-milestones, I’ve decided to try something new. I’m going to assemble a Mad Dog XL in minimum diameter configuration with a 4 gr 98mm CTI motor. It should push me a bit. It sims-out at about 25,000’ and mach 1.6 and AUW to be about 27#. I’m thinking about Pereg…[Read more]

NO GO for Saturday and/or Sunday at the North Site. Disappointing but determined not to be happening. Apologies for such late notice. Looks like SCORE will be launching at the Hudson Ranch. Hope to see you there.

Jeffrey Joe Hinton started the topic NO GO for Oktoberfest in the forum News & Events 6 years ago
It’s been decided – NO GO for OKTOBERFEST. This was the prudent and responsible thing to do, given the vegetative conditions and lack of precipitation affecting our spot on the prairie. Discussion of moving the November launch to the Atlas site has already started but it’s really dry and crispy there as well. Time to start the rain dances in…[Read more]

The Ranger says Plan to go ahead with your launch on Saturday and Sunday, August 3 and 4. The humidity looks like it will remain up the rest of the month. We have received some precipitation, but there are a lot of cured annual grasses out there. We’ve had two fires in the last couple of weeks. Neither grew very large, but there are areas that wi…[Read more]

I’m going to try to attend Oktoberfest again this year. Hopefully the weather will cooperate more than last year. I’m not sure if I’ll try the drag race but I hope to bring the camera set up. Would anyone like for me to film their launch? Here is one of the Swiss teams I recorded at SAC last month https://vimeo.com/343565864

Some of you might find it interesting to see accelerometer data from a high-speed failure
When a flew a minimum-diameter rocket on a J420 with a scratch-built nosecone on Sunday morning, the nosecone failed right around burnout. The front end of the nosecone broke off and took my apogee deployment charge with it. The apogee charge was there to…[Read more]
