Forums › General Discussion › NCR March 30th Atlas Site
Members and friends,
NCR has a GO for launch Saturday, March 30th only, at the Atlas Site. The Ranger says NCR can proceed with the March 30th launch as planned but, as usual, that is subject to change. The prairie remains fragile and vulnerable. Vegetation is dry out there. Relative humidity is down and ground moisture content is low but if the wind and weather cooperates, we expect the range and waiver to be ready for operation starting at 9 AM and lasting until 3 PM or until we run out of motors, lose interest or the weather chases us away, whichever happens first. All flights for this launch must remain under the 12,000 foot AGL ceiling.
Please note that all launch events will be conducted using nationally approved/accepted range safety practices. The launching of rockets on NFS land is normally prohibited under Forest Service regulations. The issuance of our permit allows launches to take place for approved launch events only.
As always, help is greatly appreciated with range set up, operations and clean up.
Hope to see you out on the range.
NOT HAPPENING!
NO GO for launch at the Atlas Site. Stage Two Fire Restrictions have been lifted but the prairie remains very dry. More importantly, pandemic spikes and precautionary recommendations suggest a group meeting, even with social distancing and masks in place, is not a healthy option.
This has been a really tough year and maybe next year will be better.
Good news to follow eventually regarding 2021 launch schedule and our Annual meeting (also currently Not Happening).
