I'd keep it as is, and just go bigger than you'd normally go with the main chute. I've broken a fin on 3 of the last five rockets I've launched, so I need to learn more on this as well.
IF I can get back into it, I have on my bench:
1) Competitor 3 (original convolute-wound kit by PR)
2) Upscale of the Hot Pink Suppository of Discomfort: moving from 3″ to 4″ and from 3x 24mm to 3x 38mm. I'm thinking 3 Vmax motors would give the right kick.
3) LOC Legacy built up for H268R or I200
4) repairs to Excess in Moderation (broken fin), Ultimate (broken fin)
I guess I've got build time while the field dries out.

Right now I have a 3″ minimum diameter hybrid that isn't names. Comes in at 35 pounds ready to fly and just under 120″ tall. RASAero says 33,700'. Last time I few the M900 rocket the sim was within 2% of the actual altitude.
I'm starting to build another 5.5″ Bunny Thumper rocket. Hoping to fly it on research 75mm motors.

I just ordered some 5.5″ airframe. Looking at starting on something I have been looking at for a couple years.
An aprox. 5X upscale of an AGM-57X HEATSEEKER.
Should come in at 7.71'. I do have some issues with the lower fins. They will be the impact point
upon landing. Even a soft landing may be problematic. Was considering a two stage and let the
lower drop off. Too short, comes in at only about 3.78″. Not long enough to put much of an engine
in. I will just need to build extra robust.
I always made a habit of angling the lower part of the fin, or having some airframe lower than the
fin. Not on this one.
I may change my mind before it starts. Still deciding
Anyway. Whats in the mix for you?
