Launch Log System Update 2020
New launch log system updates are underway. Here are some of the highlights.
Launch Logs
What’s New
Flights and Flyers
The number of unique flyers has been added to the by-month charts.
Speed Demon
The fastest flight. This new leaderboard applies to flight data beginning in 2020. Historical flight data did not record speed as a separate field, the chart is not available for events prior to 2020.
Powder Keg
Bonfire for Black Powder. Total mass = sum(motor_weight) for Black Powder motors only.
Chart Updates
Many of the charts have been updated to include additional information, such as the number of flights, or the number of motors that contributed to an individual rank on a given leaderboard.
Now you can see more detail, for example, in 2013 the bonfire was won with just 4 motors!
Behind the Scenes
A large amount of the work that went in to the site over the last month was to improve the flight card record entry screen(s). These pages are only available to the club president and a handful of other individuals.

GO For Launch – MHM 2019
We’ve checked with the District Ranger and we are OK to proceed as planned with the scheduled 5/31, 6/1&2 launch event, subject to normal precautions.
NCR is GO for MileHighMayhem the first weekend of June on the Pawnee National Grassland at NCR’s North Site.
On-site registration ($20.00) will be available Friday, May 31st, Saturday June 1st and Sunday June 2nd.
Limited edition T-shirts have been printed, vendors have been contacted, raffle prizes collected and Port-A-Potties have been ordered for the weekend.
Our waiver will be a constant 20,000’ AGL, with anticipated “windows of opportunity” for higher altitudes shots. Please let me know ASAP if you’re planning any “window” shots.
We anticipate having the range set up and ready by 9 AM on Friday, and we’ll operate until 6 PM. On Saturday and Sunday, the range and waiver will be open at 8 AM. Wristbands will be required for ALL flyers and ALL High Power flyers will need to be registered ($20.00).
Proof of current NAR or TRA membership is required for high powered flying. The extended weather forecast calls for partly cloudy skies with characteristically light winds and comfortable temperatures for Spring on the prairie with the probability of afternoon thunder showers.
Come prepared for all types of weather. This should be an awesome weekend for flying. Please remember that Range Safety is in everyone’s best interest. NO “sparky” motor types allowed.
TRAVELER IV
On April 21, 2019, the USC Rocket Propulsion Lab, launched Traveler IV out of Spaceport America. Traveler IV reached an apogee of 339,800 ft with a confidence of 90% of having crossed the internationally-recognized border between Earth’s atmosphere and space known as the Kármán line.
2019-02 February Club Launch [Atlas Site]
February 2nd (Happy Groundhog’s Day!) at the ATLAS SITE. The current weather forecast, subject to change, predicts comfortable winter temps and favorable, light wind conditions for flying. Range and waiver are expected to be ready for operation starting at 9 AM and lasting until 3 PM or until we run out of motors, lose interest or the weather chases us away, whichever happens first. All flights for this launch must remain under the 12,000
