Launch Summary

Day three of Mayhem - busiest day on the range due to the weather conditions.  80 flyers put up 197 flights with lots of notable flights and lots of Certifications and new records and special projects.  Congratulations to all.  Two windows invoked and just generally busy day on the range.   Standard message regarding flight cards not being in order and cluster and staged flights only credited to the largest motor used.  Breakdowns as follows - 1/2 A's=1, A's7, B's=14, C's=28, D's=15, E's=20, F's=16, G's=28, H's=15, I's=17, J's=9, K's=10, L's=4, M's=7, and at least 6 Research motors, including the "O" in the Bixler/Lionberger Nike.  

Weather Conditions

The kind of day we live for.  Dawn was calm, clear and slightly chilly.   Warmed up in a hurry when the waiver opened at 8 AM and stayed calm and clear throughout the day.  Winds aloft were generally soft but squirrely and temperatures reached into the 70's.  Absolutely stunning day on the prairie with the promise of better conditions on Monday.  Yeehaw!

All launch events will be conducted using nationally approved/accepted range safety practices. The launching of rockets on NFS land is normally prohibited under a Forest Service Region 2 fire regulation. The issuance of NCR’s permit allows launches to take place by exempting the Holder from that regulation for approved launch events only. All launches, other than those conducted by the Holder during approved launch events, are outside the scope of this permit and are prohibited by Forest Service regulations.
